LIDDELL, Norma Jean Nagle Douglas, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 22nd after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was a devoted wife, a loving, caring mother and grandmother. Norma is survived by her two sisters, Kathleen Johns of Centerville, OH, and Wanda Aycock of Sapulpa, OK; her son, Barclay L. Douglas III (wife Dee, grandchildren Barclay and Alison); stepchildren: Thomas G. (Cheri) Liddell; Denise (John) Allis; Debra (Greg) Betts; Diane (Dan) Goering, Donna (Mike) Adams, Lora (Jim) Liddell and dozens of step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Norma was raised in Brazil, Indiana, by parents, John Earl and Lula P. Nagle. She married Barclay L. Douglas Jr, living the majority of their 39 years together in Savannah, GA and Des Moines, IA. Her loving husband Barclay passed away in 1982. She later married Thomas B. Liddell and celebrated 25 wonderful years of marriage and was preceded by his recent death. They shared their life together in Des Moines, IA, Ft. Meyers, FL and Spring Hill, TN. Norma will be remembered for her style, smile, passion for life, wonderful meals, and her generous spirit. She had a unique ability to combine a degree of formality with incredible warmth. Norma was an active golfer, church volunteer, and dear friend to all that knew her.
