Patricia Ree McDivitt Brown, 65, of Franklin, TN passed away July 7, 2010. A devoted teacher, wife, mother, sister and friend, she will be remembered for her lifelong effort in education, her love of reading and the joy with which she approached life, even in the face of adversity. She was born April 14, 1945 in Gainesville, Florida to parents, Lt. Col. Archie Lee McDivitt and Dorothy Emrick McDivitt. She married husband, Cpt. Charles Patton Brown, whom she met serving with the U.S. Dept. of Defense in Okinawa, on September 25, 1971 at the First Presbyterian Church of Paris, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband; daughter, Christina "Christy" Brown and son-in-law, Hernan Ciudad of Nashville; daughter, Shawna Brown of Franklin; sister, Sara McCrocklin and brother-in-law, Mike McCrocklin of Paris, IL; and five nieces and nephews. A graduate of Beloit College and a master's degree recipient from the University of Tennessee, she devoted 43 years of her life to educating children, the last 27 years at The Oak Hill School in Nashville. A memorial will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, July 24 at The Oak Hill School.
