Reva Thomas

Reva Mae Riggin Thomas, born May 17, 1930 passed peacefully on December 24, 2017. A native of Cadiz Kentucky, she was the youngest daughter of Harry Claude (‘H.C.") Riggin and Ila Earl Rogers Riggin. In April of 1948 she married her high school sweetheart, Cecil W. Thomas, and they celebrated their 68th anniversary in 2016 shortly before his passing on May 30, 2016.
In 1959 they moved from Cadiz, Kentucky to Chattanooga Tennessee where they lived for more than 50 years before moving to Nashville to live closer to relatives in their later years. It was in Chattanooga where Reva developed her love of golf eventually teaching the game to her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Lookout Mountain Golf and Country Club and served as a two-time President and Life Member of the Chattanooga Women's Golf Association. She was also a member of First Centenary United Methodist Church.
Her greatest passion was spending time with her four grandchildren and operating what came to be known as the annual Camp Reva Mae highlighted by days of swimming, poolside watermelon and steaks and, of course, golf lessons.
Reva Thomas was predeceased by her husband, Cecil; her parents, Harry Claude and Ila Earl Riggin; her sisters, Juanita and Dorothy, and her brother, Malcom. She is survived by her two children Anita and Roger; four grandchildren, Caitlin Heston, Scott Heston, Megan Thomas and Lauren Thomas as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday December 30, 21017 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association. Visitation will be held 12noon - 2:00PM prior to the service at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, 615-794-2289. www.williamsonmemorial.com
