Mr. Richard Gouvan, age 84, devoted husband and beloved father, of Franklin, TN died on January 18, 2015 after a long illness. Richard was born in Springfield, MA, the eldest child of Alfred and Madeline Carron Gouvan in Springfield, MA. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred Jr. and Edward; sister, Barbara; and infant son, Mark Allen Gouvan. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Dufault Gouvan; son, Richard L. (Donna) Gouvan of Chicopee, MA; daughters, Amy (Michael) Anderson of Tyrone, GA, Lisa (Jonathan) Morgan of Eugene, OR and Jennifer (Paul) St. Jacques of Franklin, TN; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Richard was born and attended school in Springfield, MA. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954. He was stationed in Germany where he and his wife were married. He spent most of his career as a draftsman, retiring from Hampden Engineering in MA in 2005 at the age of 75. A Mass of Remembrance will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9100 Crockett Rd. Brentwood, TN on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall at the church. A memorial service will also be held at a later date in Hampden, MA.
