Robert Brantley "Bob" Burrow, age 84 of Franklin, TN passed away January 3, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Lee Ann Burrow, sons, Brett (wife, Diane), and Grant (wife, Susan). His grandchildren are Reed, Paige, Blanne, Brooklin. He graduated from Lon Morris Junior College (Jacksonville, TX) in 1954. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Kentucky in 1956. While at UK he was an All-American basketball player and holds the school rebound record. His jersey, #50, is retired and displayed in Rupp Arena. After college, he played professional basketball for two years with the Rochester Royals and the Minneapolis Lakers. He then began his career in education in Fort Knox.
While at Fort Knox High School he coached boys' basketball and was a teacher from 1958-1967. In1959 he married Lee Ann Holeman, a FKHS biology teacher. Bob was the Assistant Principal at Fort Knox High School in 1967/1968. He became the FKHS Principal in 1968 and worked in that capacity until 1980. He served as the Assistant Superintendent of Business from 1980 until 1993. He finished his career as the Superintendent of the Fort Knox Community Schools, 1993/1994.
In 1988, he was inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association's Basketball Hall of Fame. In 2005, he was inaugurated into the initial class of the University of Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame.
On Sunday, January 6, 2019 visitation will be 12:00 Noon until time of the service (3:00 PM CST) at WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 615 794-2289 williamsonmemorial.com Dr. Jerry Winfield will officiate. Interment will be at Williamson Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be The Believers Sunday School Class of Oak Valley Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Room In The Inn program at Oak Valley Baptist Church, 1161 Lewisburg Pike, Franklin, TN 37064.
