Robert F. DeSantis died on October 4, 2016 surrounded by his loving family in Franklin, TN, where he retired and lived for the past 10 years. He was born in 1937 and raised in Newark, NJ graduating from Barringer HS. Bob attended Fairleigh Dickenson Univ. & UCLA. He moved to Anaheim, CA and worked for several defense companies as a design draftsman for four years. He moved back to Colonia, NJ and lived there for 30 years. He owned and operated three restaurants, Squires Inn of Rahway, Green Brook and Far Hills and became very active in civic, (Woodbridge Jaycees), and Republican Party politics. He ran for Mayor of Woodbridge Twp at the age of 30. He also was very active in local, county and national politics running former Pres. George H. W. Bush's and Pres. Ronald Regan's campaign in New Jersey. From 1998-2005 he owned and operated the Steak Loft in Freehold and moved to Wall, NJ. He was predeceased by his parents Frank & Marie Baldinger DeSantis and sister Dorothy Schott. Survived by his loving wife, Margaret Tornillo DeSantis; daughter, Sharon & Jack Zakresky of Franklin, TN and son, Dean M. DeSantis of Freehold, NJ; sisters, Carole Frascella of Hamilton, NJ and Ann Sullivan of Lake Como, NJ; four grandchildren, Christine and Catherine Zakresky of Franklin, TN, Matthew DeSantis of Freehold, NJ and Jason DeSantis of Howell, NJ; four great grandchildren, Kaden Zakresky-Adams, Kiley Wilder and Julian and Gianna Zakresky-Stroud all of Franklin, TN and many nieces and nephews. A memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Father Bala officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
