Robert Kibler

October 30, 1943 — March 16, 2020

Robert Louis Kibler of Franklin, TN left his earthly life on March 16, 2020. He was born on October 30, 1943 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and lived in Memphis until 1983.
Preceded in death by his mother, Floy Kibler Britton and stepfather, Charles Britton; siblings, Bill, Claudia and Karen; first wife, Linda K. Kibler. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sarah Weeks Kibler; sons, Kevin Lester Weeks and Guy Bradley Weeks; brother, Samuel (Lynn) Kibler; grandchildren, Hayden Louis Weeks, Garrison Alexander Weeks and Savannah Claire Weeks who all will cherish his memory.
After graduation from Oakhaven High in Memphis he joined the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Naval Special Warfare, Fraternal Order of UDT/Seals Team 11. He trained for the Seal Team in Coronado, California/San Diego. He excelled at diving, parachuting and marksmanship, and completed all of his missions with bravery and compassion. He never discussed his service, leaving us to find his orders and commendations for excellence after his passing. Bob Kibler was a truly honorable man, a patriot and a gentleman through and through. He wore his Seal/Frogman title for life.
Upon returning from Vietnam, he was hired by "South Central Bell" in Memphis, Tennessee. He moved through the changes in the Bell System, staying with AT&T until retirement in 2000. Retirement was not in his plans, so he earned a CDL license and drove for Averitt Express until chemo forced him to retire again.
He loved his role as parent to two boys he accepted with their mother and raised as his own. He never faltered in the love he had for us, and we never doubted it. He loved us unconditionally and completely. As "Gaga" he was a super granddad and the children loved him right back. Bob was a good listener, slow to anger, honest in all things, humble, kind, loving, and not proud. He was always "there" when we needed him. A Southern Baptist, he was a member of Oak Valley Baptist Church, and was a regular attender, until unable to go any longer. A memorial service will be held with Military Honors 1:00PM Saturday, August 15, 2020 with visitation one hour prior to the service at WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 615-794-2289. www.williamsonmemorial.com
