Robert P. Johnson, age 96 of Franklin, TN, formerly of Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully at his home on September 19, 2016.He was raised in Cardwell, MO. by his parents, the late Ellis & Hettie Jones Johnson. Robert was well known for his love of the outdoors, wonderful sense of humor, many inventions, and the ability to fix anything! After 12 years of perfect attendance in school, Robert joined the Civilian Conservation Corps before joining the U.S. Army. Serving as a Signal Aircraft Warning Sergeant in WWII, he was a highly decorated soldier, receiving the distinguished Croix de Guerre medal for heroism awarded by the French government. Robert retired after 42 years of service with Bell Telephone Company. He was preceded in death, by his sister, Nancy Ann Johnson and brother, Oren Johnson. Robert is survived by his beloved wife and best hunting and fishing companion of 67 years, Hattie Reynolds Johnson; children, Rebecca (Randall) Currie, Robert (Karen) Johnson and Beth (Robert "Bobby" H. Burns) Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Elliot Currie, Mara Johnson, Forrest (Heather) Broyles, Elizabeth Mizell, Margaret and Frances Fitzgerald; great-grandchildren, Harper & Beckett Broyles and several other family members.
