Robert O. Stegall, 85, died May27, 2015 in his home following a battle with Lewy Body Disease. He was born in Cortez, CO.
He is preceded in death by his parents Rillie and Marvin Stegall, three sisters, Alma Stegall, Mona Haisten, and Maudell McEachern. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, June Kirkland Stegall; one son Robert Keith Stegall and his wife, (Janet); three granddaughters Jen (Lucas) Ketner, Erin Stegall, and Lindsay (Joe) Nixon; a great grandson, Robert Silas Ketner; a great granddaughter, Eden June Nixon; three brothers Bill (Nelinda) Stegall, Larry (Louise) Stegall and Stan (Lois) Stegall, a sister, Mary Nell Kirk; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dearest friend Susan (Richard) Parker.
His early musical background playing steel guitar and piano with the Hackberry Ramblers, the Road Runners and Johnny Horton. While on The Louisiana Hayride, he shared the stage with Hank Williams, Jim Reeves, and Johnny Horton. He recorded on Abbot Label in the early 1950's.
His business background was as owner of Gulf Service Stations in Bossier City, LA, Stegall's Child Care Center and Beech Springs Recording Studio in Haughton, LA and Stegall's Mini Mart in Grassland, TN.
The past 25 years, he has been a music publisher, working with over 30 freelance songwriters in the Nashville area. He continued to work from his office in Berry Hill, TN until his illness this past summer. His publishing companies included Jenerilin Publishing, Bob Stegall Music, and Courtyard 108.
He held past and present memberships in the Lions Club serving as President, The Rotary Club, SACUS, LACUS, St. John's Masonic Hall, BMI, ASCAP, CMA, First Methodist Church, Shreveport, LA; Brentwood Methodist Church in Brentwood, TN and Santa Fe Methodist Church in Santa Fe, TN.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00PM Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Dr. Joe Bowers will officiate the service assisted by the Reverend Larry Stegall and Stan Stegall officiating. Interment will take place in Williamson Memorial Gardens.
Active Pallbearers: Jason Campbell, Joe Nixon, Lucas Ketner, Nick Nichols, Jimmy Miles and Lance Wing. Honorary pallbearers: Michael White, John Kelton, Pat Adams, Richard Parker, Bill Stegall, Jim Vest and Larry Alderman. Memorials may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, www.lbda.org.
