SMITH, Mrs. Sammie Alexander, age 76 of Franklin, TN went to be with the Lord on October 20, 2013. Sammie dedicated her life to God, family and her church. She was a graduate of Carson Newman College and a long-time member of Gideons Int. She spent her days working at Lipscomb Elementary, serving as church librarian, caring for family and friends, sewing and cooking, and in her later years, traveling with her husband. Like her mother before her, she was a godly influence on almost everyone she met. Preceded in death by her parents, Earl & Minerva Alexander. Survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, N. Reed Smith; sister, Anita (Herman) Caldwell; children, Beth (Marty) Taggart, David (Nancy) Smith and Mark (Andrea) Smith; grandchildren, Callie Smith, Alex Taggart, Noah Taggart, Nathan Smith, Samantha Taggart, Reuben Smith and Abby Smith. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00PM Thursday, October 24, 2013 at ClearView Baptist Church in Franklin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ClearView Baptist Church library or Gideons Int. Visitation will be 3-5PM and 6-8PM Wednesday at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
