Shirley Smithson

Shirley Ann Tomlin Smithson, 81, of Chapel Hill, TN and formerly of Williamson County, passed away Friday, September 23, 2022. Shirley was born in Williamson County to the late Maude and Louise Smithson Tomlin. Shirley was a Caretaker most of her life and loved the outdoors. She liked canning, yard sales, gardening, flowers, and her snuff. Shirley was of the Baptist Faith. Shirley loved her family and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James E. “Cotton” Smithson, sons, Kenny Ashworth and Dale Ashworth, siblings, Gayle, William, J.W., Dot, Toodlum, and Grassey.

Survivors include son, Roy “Tadpole” Ashworth, daughter, Pam Henson, sister, Mildred “Sissy” Herndon, grandchildren, Nathan, Cory, Becky, Diane, Jamie, Amanda, Crissy, Kenneth, Pam, James, and Angel, sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Services will be conducted 2:00PM Tuesday September 27, 2022, at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with Jim Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Smithson Cemetery.

Visitation hours will be from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Williamson Memorial.

Active Pallbearers are Nathan Tomlin, Cory Pugh, Michael Davis, Cory Ashworth, Tadpole Ashworth, Derek Davis. Honorary Pallbearer, Howard Ragsdale
