Simon Dobie, aged 48, of Franklin, TN, passed away in the early hours of 24th June 2017.
He is survived by his wife Katherine and their two daughters, Claudia (age 6) and Evelyn (age 2); his parents Anthony and Margaret Dobie; his sister and brother-in-law Helen and Mark Llewelyn and their children Thomas and Benjamin; and his brother Paul Dobie and his partner Katy Pearce.
Simon was born November 10, 1968, in Marlborough, Wiltshire, England. A determined leader with a larger-than-life personality, he was both an acclaimed athlete and successful businessman. He served as a director and shareholder of an international information technology company. He performed at county, regional and national levels across many sports, including football (soccer), rugby, golf, basketball and Aussie Rules football. Simon also shared his family's love of nature, especially birding.
In 2005, he met his wife Katherine in England; in 2007, he joined her in America to start a new adventure together. With a passion for history and preservation, Simon and Katherine thoughtfully restored the Mordecai Puryear home, included on the National Register of Historic Places. There, they lovingly raised their daughters and entertained often, sharing their life and this special part of Franklin's heritage with others.
Simon will be most remembered as a doting father and husband, deeply devoted to his family both here and abroad.
Private ceremonies for family will be held in Franklin, TN and the United Kingdom. A visitation for friends will be held on Thursday 29th June from 6-8 p.m. at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home in Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty (nationaltrust.org.uk/donate), a conservation organization in the UK held dear to Simon's heart. Its mission is to preserve and protect historic places and spaces - for ever and for everyone.
