Steven Walling

Steven G. Walling age 65, passed away May 2, 2019 at his home in Franklin, TN. Steve served on the Tennessee Highway Patrol and retired as Captain of the Patrol Division for the Brentwood Police Department January 30, 2011. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Springfield, TN. Steve was first a good son, second a humble and kind servant, third a good husband, father, brother, uncle and continual steadfast friend. He was "Papa". His service with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and The City of Brentwood Police Department reflects those gifts in accolades and an abundance of love and support from all that knew him. Steve was a nurturer and he loved his horses. He shared a love for hunting and fishing with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Nature was his friend and solace. He was a continual up lifter of others - always for the underdog. Survived by his loving wife, Julie Obert Walling of Franklin, TN; children, Rachel Walling Neill, grandchildren Cason and Sara Brook Neill, Connie Sadler and spouse Rusty Sadler; grandchildren Christian, Cody and Rhett, Angie Gibson and spouse Jonathan Gibson, grandchildren Jansen, Kylie, Isabelle and Sophie, and Jesse Obert; brother, Lewis F Walling and spouse Sue; sister, Nancy Pratt and spouse Dan Pratt; brother, Troy Walling and spouse Tracey; sister, Laurie Riley and Billy Joe Riley and all the nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews that he adored. Preceded in death by son, Denver Smith, III. Funeral Services will be held 1:00PM Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with visitation being held 2 hours prior to the service. Graveside service 3:30PM Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Springfield, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Williamson County Humane Society.
