Sylvia Turk

Sylvia Yvonne Johnson Turk, age 78 was born in Columbia County, Arkansas to Dorothy Whitehead Johnson and William Alma Johnson on August 23rd, 1937. Sylvia graduated from Magnolia High School in 1955. After moving to Shreveport, Louisiana she worked for Southern Bell Telephone where she met the love of her life Herbert "Pat" Turk and was married on November 9th, 1956. After moving back to Arkansas and having two sons, James and Ronald, she attended nursing school in El Dorado, Arkansas. Upon graduating she went to work for Warren Brown Hospital. In 1973 her husband's career took the family back to Louisiana. Over the next twenty-five years Yvonne worked at three hospitals and finished her career at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was known for her dedication and passion to her work and she received several awards for exemplary patient care. After her retirement her hobbies included being a grandmother to her four grandchildren: Matt, Mark, Austin, and Natalie, as well as traveling, cooking, fishing, and LSU football. She is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years Pat, sons, James (Diann) Turk Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Ronald (Stacy) Turk Franklin, TN and her grandchildren Matt, Mark, Austin, Natalie, and step great grandson Coby Howell. Yvonne will be dearly missed by her family, loved ones, and friends. Celebration of Life services will be held 1:00PM Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Dr. Jerry Winfield officiating. Visitation will be 11:45AM-1:00PM Sunday at Williamson Memorial. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
