The Walker

April 19, 1932 — July 23, 2015

The Very Reverend Gordon Walker, founding pastor of St. Ignatius Antiochian Orthodox Church in Franklin, TN, went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2015.
His ministry spanned over 60 years, beginning with his ordination as a Southern Baptist pastor in 1951. Since that time, he continuously ministered to thousands around the world. In 1987 he was ordained an Archpriest in the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. Fr. Gordon shared his love of Christ and the Orthodox Christian Faith with everyone he met until his final days.
He is preceded in death by his parents, G.T. and Jean Walker; brother, David Walker and sister, Alice Jean Walker. Survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Sue Walker; son, Gordon Thomas (Kibble) Walker, Jr; daughters, Deborah (Michael) Amick, Melissa (Gary) Braun, Grace (Collin) Monk and Jacqueline (Robert) Menish; brother, Phillip (Sandy) Walker; sister, Mary Exa (Steve) Crew; sister in-law, Carol Walker; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 10-3PM Monday, July 27, 2015 with Trisagion Prayers of Mercy at 3 pm then visitation:4-6:30pm with funeral service for a Clergyman at 7pm, the vigil reading will continue through the night. Tuesday, July 28, 2015 Divine Liturgy with Trisagion Prayers of Mercy will start at 10:00AM followed immediately by funeral services for a Layman all at St. Ignatius Orthodox Church at 3535 St. Ignatius LN. Franklin, TN. 37064 with interment following at St. Ignatius Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Ministries, INC. 4671 Celeste LN. Franklin, TN. 37064. Services are in care of Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, 615-794-2289 www.williamsonmemorial.com
