Thomas Ladd

Ladd, Thomas Edward Age 87 of Arrington, TN. passed away on February 2, 2012. A native of Williamson County, TN, he was the son of the late William Price Ladd and Stella Green Smithson Ladd.
Survived by Sara, his wife of 66 years; daughters Elaine (Rick) Warwick of Franklin and Annice (Bob) Bowen of Arrington; brother Bobby T. Ladd and sister Martha Alexander both of Franklin; grandchildren Linda Michelle Bowen of Franklin and Dr. Michael (Elizabeth) Bowen of Nashville; great grandson Thomas Bennett Bowen of Nashville. A veteran of the U.S. Air Corp, during World War II Mr. Ladd served in the China, Burma, India theater. After the war he opened Ladd-Lewis Foods in High Point, NC before returning to Franklin to work at Cumberland Tobacco Works. Hired as a crew scheduler for American Airlines in 1951, he became a district sales manager remaining with the airlines for 31 years. He was a member of the Nashville Exchange Club and the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce where he was honored as salesman of the year. After retiring in 1982, he served on the Board of Directors of the Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation for 15 years. He also served as a travel agent for Brentwood Travel and Enzor Travel leading tours to countries around the world. Besides traveling, he loved to spend time with his family and work on his farm. A life-long Methodist he was a charter member of Crievewood United Methodist Church in Nashville and, in his later years, a member of First United Methodist Church in Franklin. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Franklin First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial, Mt. Hope Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Larry Ladd, Jerry Alexander, Steve Ladd, Tom Giddens, Lee Sanders, Eddie Sanders, Sam Long, Phillip George and Ted Wagner. Honorary pallbearers will be the Horace Edgmon Sunday School Class, Steve Fulton, Scott Goodman, Bob Vaden, Jeff King, Board of Directors of Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Cooperation.
