Vernon Ray

April 16, 1926 — January 19, 2019

Vernon Richard "Dick" Ray, age 92 of Franklin, TN, went home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2019.
Dick was born in Jacksonville, FL on April 16, 1926, son of the late Robert and Irene Ray. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He was a member of Hiram Lodge 37, Scottish Rite, Al Menah Temple, Williamson County Shrine Club, and American Legion Post #22. He retired from Gulf Oil after 38 years. He was a member of Triune Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Ray and half-brother, Bill Ray.
Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Selma Ray; children, Vernon Richard (Marta) Ray, Jr. of Palm Coast, FL, Robert Andrew (Carolyn) Ray of Lees Summit, MO, and Brian Felix (Connie) Ray of Franklin, TN; half-brother, Russell Ray; two half-sisters, Linda Averill and Verna Dawson; seven grandchildren, Egan (Amy), Jason (Kristin), Morgan (Ryan) Jantzen, Austin, Chad (Sarah), Jarrod (Jessica), and Katie; and eight great grandchildren, Evan, Allison, Kaiden, Owen, Ian, Kami, Elli Lu and Madi Jo.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Reed Buntin officiating.
Burial will follow in Williamson Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donation to the Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center - Lexington, 110 Conn Terrace Lexington, KY 40508 in loving memory of Vernon Richard Ray.
