Walter Warren

June 8, 1933 — June 30, 2019

Stoney was born June 8, 1933 on the family farm in Rives, Tennessee, the son of M.T. & Sallie Stone Warren. He passed away on June 30, 2019.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Donna Jester Warren. He is also survived by a daughter, Lisa Warren Grissim, of Brentwood, TN; Son, Thomas Jester Warren, Sr. of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Andrew (Alex) Grissim, Daniel Grissim, T.J. Warren, Harrison Warren, Haley Warren & great-granddaughter, Gracelyn Warren.

Mr. Warren attended Rives School and graduated from Union City High School. He attended David Lipscomb College and graduated from Memphis State University with a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in business administration. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving at Fort Lewis Washington during the Korean era.

Stoney was employed at International Harvester and Lincoln-Mercury Division of Ford prior to being appointed as Director, University Placement at Memphis State in 1968. While at the University he was a member and served as President, Tennessee, College Placement Association, member and President, National Placement Association. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and served as an elder at the Southern Hills congregation for twenty years.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, and Herb Jones, Tony White, Chris Graham and John Bufford. Elders of Southern Hills will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Southern Hills Church of Christ, where a Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM with Andy Miller officiating.

Memorials may take the form of donations to the Southern Hills Church of Christ 2508 Goose Creek By-Pass, Franklin, TN 37064 or to Tennessee Children's Home, P.O Box 10, Spring Hill, TN 37174 in loving memory of Walter "Stoney" Warren.
