Wendy Posavac

Wendy Cook Posavac, aged 76, passed away on May 21, 2016 in the trauma unit at Vanderbilt Hospital, Nashville, TN after a fall. She was born in McKeesport, PA and raised in Wilkinsburg, PA. She was the oldest of the three children of William Perry Cook and Ethel (Barkemeyer) Cook. Her sister is Dianne (Cook) Harmick of Dubois, PA and her brother is W. James Cook of Costa Rica. Wendy earned a B.A. at Muskingum College (Ohio) in 1961 and taught at Wilkinsburg Junior High School. Later, she taught in California and Illinois. She is survived by her husband, Emil J. Posavac, whom she married in August 1963. Her son, Steven S. Posavac of Franklin, TN, was born in 1969. She earned a M.A. in French at the Univ. of Illinois-Champaign and a Master of Divinity at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL. She did considerable volunteer work with churches and elderly neighbors in suburbs just north of Chicago. She and her husband retired in 2004 and moved to Penfield, NY to be near family. In 2007 they moved to Franklin, TN to be near their son, daughter-in-law, Heidi (Fradkin) Posavac, and grandchildren, Austin, Brett, and Caleigh, who brought great joy to her life. The funeral service will be held 11:00 Thursday, May 26, 2016 with visitation on hour prior to the service at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, 3009 Columbia Avenue, Franklin, TN 37064. The Rev. Nate Shurden (Cornerstone Presbyterian Church) will officiate. Burial will follow in Williamson Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Wendy's favorite charity, the American Bible Society (101 North Independence Mall East FL8, Philadelphia, PA 19106-2155) in her name.
