ADAIR, Mr. William "Billy", age 66 of Franklin, TN, February 18, 2014. Professor of Music at Blair School at Vanderbilt University. Preceded in death by mother, Edith Lucile Stephens Adair and father, William "Bill" Dawson Adair. Survived by wife of 38 years, Beegie Adair; brother, Tommy (Kimberly) Adair; several cousins and faithful dog, Douglas. Private graveside service will be held at Williamson Memorial Gardens, Robert Early & Edward Farley officiating. Pallbearers will be Tommy Adair, Glenn Crowell, Loy Hardcastle, Jeff Cook, Mike Rinne, Steve Smartt, Robert Early & Sarah Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the past & present Blair Big Band and members of the Establishment Orchestra. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts to The Billy Adair Fund for Jazz at the Blair School of Music, c/o Gift Processing, PMB 407727, 2301 Vanderbilt Place, Nashville, TN 37240-7727.
