William Conway

October 8, 1939 — December 21, 2018

William Carter Conway, age 79 of Franklin, TN passed away December 21, 2018. Native of Williamson County and descendent of the Carter family that the Carter House in downtown Franklin is named. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. After the military, he was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. Received his Juris Doctorate from Vanderbilt. Carter practiced law for 49 years with his career primarily in Franklin, TN. He was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, former member of the Franklin Noon Rotary Club, avid hunter, outdoorsman and member of Ducks Unlimited. Preceded in death by father, George Lee Conway and mother, Elizabeth Moore Bennett Conway; brother, Major James Bennett Conway and twin brother, George Lee Conway, Jr. Survived by: wife of 46 years, Ann Lacey Conway of Franklin, TN; daughter, Nan Conway (Richmond) Miller of Nashville, TN; step son, Donnie (Kathy) Young of Madison, MS; sister, Elizabeth "Betsey" Conway (John) Snodgrass of Ypsilanti, MI; grandchildren, Rachel Katherine Miller, Madison Elizabeth Miller, Will Young and Allison (Barrett) Jacques; great granddaughter, Eva Harper Jacques and other loving family members. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted 3:00 PM Thursday, December 27, 2018 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, The Rev. Monna Mayhall officiating. Visitation will be 1:00-3:00 PM in Otey Hall at the church. A private family inurnment will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Columbarium. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Williamson County Bar Association. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
