Mr. William "Bill" Stewart Tomlinson, age 83 of Franklin, TN passed away on September 9, 2015.
Bill Tomlinson was born on December 26, 1931. He was a Nashville native and attended Litton High school. At 6'5" tall, he played center for Litton's basketball team where he earned the nickname, Wheel.
It was here, that he met the love of his life. He married his high school sweetheart, Bobbye Ann Harlan Tomlinson and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage.
Mr. Tomlinson served in the Air Force and worked in the building material industry. He was a partner in Nashville Lumber Company.
Bill Tomlinson was very active in the Church of Christ. He was a member of Jackson Park and Madison Church of Christ where he worked with the youth group, taught Sunday school and served as deacon. Most recently, he was an active member of Heritage Church of Christ.
Most importantly, Bill Tomlinson's life was a reflection of his faith and his love of people. Everyone he came in contact with was given a quick smile or a warm hug. He was a true gentleman that lived to selflessly serve others and the Lord. His unconditional love and kindness will be hall marks of his life. It was truly a blessing to know him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Johnson Tomlinson and Archie Eugene Tomlinson, his brothers Arch Tomlinson and Bob Tomlinson. He is survived by his wife, Bobbye Ann Harlan Tomlinson, his twin daughters Terrie (Bobby) Gamble and Sherri (Mark) Street, four grandchildren, Kelli (Bruce) Myers, John (Shelby) Street, Rachael (Mitch) Howell and Rebecca (Twain) Gleim and seven great-grandchildren and another great-grandson on the way.
Celebration of Life will be held 3:00PM Sunday , September 13, 2015 with visitation two hours prior at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Steve Blackman officiating.
